The Zoo, a Weboree and Other Tales (and Tails!)

Saturday, while Rocky and Jacob were at the Weboree, I took advantage of the free zoo pass and took the younger kids. We had so much fun!

We went on the perfect day! Not only was the weather was great but right across the street from the zoo- Fairytale Town was having the 'Target Children's Book Celebration' and admission was free. Of course the kids and I stopped there for some fun too and I'm glad we did! The kids got to make a book mark, meet some authors, and got some cool new books. They even got a free little "Make Your Own Book" kit. I cant wait to do that with them!Meanwhile- back at the Weboree...After the zoo and Fairytale Town, we visited my Nana and Papa (and their new doggie Baxter) for a bit then headed home.

Trevor is now starting to use the potty too!!

Finding a Peter Pan costume for Luke (his favorite hero. Cant tell you how many times he's watched the DVD!!)

Rocky getting his garage back and having the room he needs to finish his projects.

Finding a plain white v-neck shirt for Emily's costume and getting great tips on how to make the rest of the costume. (She wants to be her hero- Claire Bennet of the show Heroes)

Free Zoo/Museum Pass This Saturday The 27th

This is pretty neat. My sister just told us about this. Its kind of last minute but I thought I'd share it with you anyway. Since Rocky and Jacob will be gone all day Saturday for Jacobs Weboree, I plan on taking the remaining kids to the Zoo. Luke has been asking me to go again for what seems like forever. It should be fun! So get out and check out some museums or visit relatives at the zoo!

All those lessons from daddy paid off! Just look at what Trevor can do all by himself!! Yay Trevor!!

A Boy's First Drive

Dads taking their sons for their first drive is always something they both look forwards to. Well, Luke got his chance this weekend. Rocky had finished the shed (all except the siding) and was about to pull his truck around to the front when Luke asked to ride with him. And that's all it took. Rocky put him on his lap and let Luke take the wheel as they took a long detour around the barn. After a lap or two, Trevor decided that he wanted to join in and ride with them. Luke drove a few more laps around and then took it to the front. The smile on his (and Rocky's) face was priceless!

The Big Kid Fairy

Around these parts, it is known that there are fairies of all kinds- some naughty and mischievous and some playful and sweet. One in particular is the Big Kid Fairy. She brings a special gift to boys and girls who master toilet training and move from being a baby to being a big kid. Shes like encouragement for those kids afraid of giving up the diaper. Since Luke has been potty trained and doing exceptionally well, he has been anxiously and patiently waiting for his special gift from her. Well, this weekend she came! She's very sneaky, that fairy! While Luke and Trevor were playing outside and helping daddy make the shed, she left a huge goody bowl for Luke full of all kinds of treats! Luke was so excited! He was also a bit confused as to how he had missed her and how she knew all his favorite foods!

She left him just what any new big kid would need: A card to congratulate the new big boy, new big boy boxer briefs, Batman Underoos, Fruit, a puppy (well, a toy one anyway!) and some root beer licorice (which daddy has graciously helped him to eat!).

Puppy Love

Little kid crushes are just sooo cute!! Luke has a big crush on the adorable little girl next door. He swears hes in love and even talks about how they are going to get married. She came over to play this weekend so I set up his Diego patio set and let them have a "date". They giggled and laughed while I played waiter and made sure they stayed stocked with crackers, grapes and juice. They were so cute! I couldn't help but to eaves drop! At one point Luke said to her "I love you- you're crazy." Hee hee hee! Rocky and I had to laugh at that! Rocky said "He takes after his dad" Haa haa haa. Good one Rocky!

A Little More Club

Well, Rocky did say he wanted some new golf clubs...

I picked up two of these monster golf sets for the kids. Arnt they ridiculously cool? You can get some serious air with those balls! Thank goodness we have lots of room out back! The kids love it. Best of all, they will be tons of fun for us not-so-grown-up dorky kids when we go to Arizona in the spring.

The clubs were a bit too heavy and awkward for Trevor's liking. He preferred the jungle gym and a Popsicle!

Having tons of help from Emily. Yesterday she even offered to do the boys chores!! They loved her for that!

Luke FINALLY being completely diaper free! He made several attempts at being a "big boy" but after a day or two he would want diapers again. Well, after a week with no diapers, I think it is safe to say he is an official big boy!! Woo Hoo!!!

Saturday Jacob had a chance to play with his new 4 in 1 Playmat Cool Tool. That thing is so neat!! And it was so simple and easy for him to use. He loves it! He only practiced with it this weekend but next weekend I'm sure he'll be making all kinds of projects! And just in time for Christmas!

Rocky and I even had a bit of fun with it. Rocky just messed around with it and I made a little peg person. This was the first time I used a lathe and I must admit- its soo fun! Rocky better watch out because I might just snatch his lathe while he isnt looking!

Leapin' Lizards!

Yesterday, as I was putting Luke & Trevor in the car to pick up the kids from school, I spotted a lizard resting just behind my front tire. Afraid that I would run it over, I tried to chase it out from under my car. Then in all the excitement of trying to herd a lizard- I decided that I would try to catch it for the kids to observe. I figured it would be too quick and that I would never catch it but to my surprise- I actually caught it! I put him in a little bug catcher and let the kids check him out for a bit. Emily and Luke were the only ones who seemed interested. After they checked him out, we let him go out back where it was safer for him.

Luke And The Planes

This past weekend was Travis AFB's Air Show. Unfortunately we didn't realize it until Sunday afternoon. Rocky was already in the middle of building a shed so he decided to stay behind and Trevor stayed to help (but mostly to have fun playing outside!). Brenden, Jacob and Emily were spending the weekend with their dad so it was just Luke and I.

I wish we knew about it sooner so we could have spent more time there. I love the air shows!! Because of time (or lack of) Luke didn't get to walk through the carrier plane like I wish he could have. He would have loved that!! But he had fun non the less! We did make the Thunderbirds show and he was in complete awe!
